Digital Census Preparation Training

1:30 PM - 3:00 PM (1.5 CE Contact Hours)

This session's purpose is to assist libraries who are working with their communities to promote a complete count during Census 2020. If you or your organization is considering providing internet access or digital tools and services, we will help you create safe digital and non-digital pathways to participation for your patrons or community. This is a condensed version of the full-length training sessions that were offered around the state in late 2019 and early 2020.
We will cover public-facing FAQ's, Do's & Dont's for library staff, creating secure participation kiosks, and privacy basics on a budget.

The work libraries are doing in service of a 2020 Census Complete Count is a demonstrable example of how we support sustainable communities. We will share data with you to show how libraries are investing in this effort, and how much more they can do when they are fully funded. You will be able to share this information at legislative meetings.

Speakers:

Carolyn Bennett Glauda is the Education and Outreach Librarian at Southeastern NY Library Resources Council in Highland, NY. She is a member of the New York Librarians Complete Count Committee, and co-author of the committee's Census 2020 LibGuide. She is a recent graduate of the Library Freedom Institute's second cohort, and received her MSIS from University at Albany in 2015.

Caitlin Kenney is the Engagement and Education Services Coordinator at the Western New York Library Resources Council in Buffalo, NY.
