Get To Know:  Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York

The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York (EFNENY) is an independent affiliate of the Epilepsy Foundation of America that serves 22 counties in northeastern New York, including the upper Hudson Valley Region, Capital Region, and North Country. The year 2021 marks the 40th anniversary of EFNENY providing services free of charge to individuals and families affected by epilepsy in the community. 

Did you know that 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy, and 1 in 10 people will have a seizure in their lifetime? Join us to learn about the programs and services that EFNENY offers, including epilepsy education for the community and seizure recognition and first aid training. Not sure if you can make it? Erica DeNicola-Scher, MS, Director of Community Education and Advocacy Coordinator of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York

Erica joined EFNENY in 2015 as the Health Educator, and in 2019, she was promoted to her current role. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Education and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. Erica is presently a member of the 2021 Emerging Nonprofit Leaders Accelerator cohort under the Institute for Nonprofit Leadership and Community Development. Outside of work, Erica enjoys time with family and friends and is a member of the UAlbany University-Community Orchestra and coaches for the Albany Youth Soccer League.
