NYLA Awards for New Members

In addition to applying for any of the following awards, new members may also wish to consider the possibility of volunteering for 4 hours in exchange for a free day at the NYLA Conference. For further information, email membership@nyla.org.

NYLA Dewey Scholarship Award

The NYLA-Dewey Scholarship provides financial assistance to enable an interested and deserving student to pursue a Masters Degree in Library Science at an ALA-accredited library school in New York State. The recipient of this award will receive approximately $1000.00 to cover tuition costs and related expenses. In addition, the winner will receive free attendance at the first NYLA Annual Conference to be held after the awarding of the scholarship (this includes ticket to the awards banquet).

ASLS Excellence in Library Innovation Award - $500 for conference expenses or cash

PLS Conference Scholarship Award – up to $1000 toward conference expenses and NYLA/PLS registration

Ann Gibson Scholarship Award - $1000 for financial assistance for graduate studies that will lead to New York State certification as a youth specialist in a public library or school media center
