NYLA is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a full day professional development event in conjunction with Book Expo America.  This program will include a keynote address, and two program sessions.

The complete program offers five contact hours of continuing education.

"Futurist" Garry Golden, NYLA Keynote Speaker


Garry Golden is an academically trained Futurist who speaks and consults on issues shaping business and society in the 21st century.

He has led workshops and delivered keynote addresses across a wide range of civic and cultural institutions.  Some of Garry’s clients include the Brooklyn College, California Association of Museums, Denver Public Library, Houston Contemporary Museum, Innovative Interfaces Inc, Kennedy Center Partners in Education, Library Journal, McGraw-Hill Companies, Ohio State Library Association, Philadelphia Museum of Art, PGAV Architects Planning and Destination, Polaris Library System User Group Conference, St Louis County Library, Idaho Commission for Libraries, The Eureka Library Leadership Institute of California, American Society for Association Executives (ASAE), Chinese Academic Library and Information Systems (Peking University), Kentucky Library Association and The High Plains Library Association of Colorado.

Garry is co-author of Designing Your Future (2008).   He holds a  Masters degree from the University of Houston Futures Studies program (M.S.).  He is a past member on the Board of Directors of the Association of Professional Futurists (APF).

He lives in Brooklyn, NY with his wife Ann and his (Thomas the Tank Engine obsessed) son Noah.

NYLA Bus to BEA

Travelling to Book Expo America this year?   NYLA is once again providing a bus free of charge for transportation to and from the Javits Center on Thursday May 30.

The bus will be departing from Albany, with additional stops in New Paltz and West Nyack, arriving at the Javits Center around 9am.  We will depart from the Javits at 6 pm.


The transportation schedule will be as follows:
Albany, NY – 5:30am
Crossgates Mall in the Macy’s overflow lot, upper level West End.

New Paltz, NY – 7:00am
Park and Ride Commuter Lot, southside of Rt. 299 at the New Paltz toll Plaza (Exit 18)

West Nyack, NY – 8:15am
Palisades Mall, Lot J (Palisades Center Ring Rd. across from Home Depot)
