From the President...
Presidential Musings, October 2012, by Matt Bollerman, Hauppauge Public Library
I am about a month away from presiding over my final Council meeting as President. I have had the good fortune to work with a group of dedicated, smart and engaged people who care deeply about New York’s libraries. I want to thank Marcia Eggleston, Kelly Yim, Barbara Nichols-Randall, Pauline Herr, Joyce Laiosa, Mary Donohue and Tom Bindeman for their service on Council.
My final Council meeting will be taking place at our Annual Conference, November 7-10 in Saratoga Springs. Have you registered to come? If so, I look forward to seeing you at the Network Breakfast on Thursday morning, the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to open the Trade Show and the keynote address by David Weinberger, author of The Cluetrain Manifesto and Too Big to Know. Thursday night is the Scholarship Bash at Saratoga National Golf Course where I hope to have many holes in one on the miniature golf course set up in the club house. Friday continues with plenty of Trade Show time and the Pecha Kucha talks and we'll be ending the day with the Inaugural Celebration (with a ton of learning sessions in between). And before heading home I will see you at the Farewell Luncheon. If you have not registered, I hope you are able to come along. It promises to be a wonderful conference.
I look forward to seeing many familiar faces in Saratoga Springs and meeting new folks as well. Travel safe to the conference and I hope to see you there.
