News from ASLS
Academic librarians from around the state gathered at Syracuse University on June 12th and 13th to participate in the biennial Academic Librarians Conference. This conference, jointly sponsored by the Academic and Special Libraries Section of NYLA and the NY3Rs, focused on the topic The Future is Now: Creatively Reaching and Teaching in Academic Libraries. Keynote speakers were David Lankes of Syracuse University and Roy Tennant of OCLC. In addition there were presentations on demonstrating value and building relationships, 21st century literacies, and gaming to learn. Mary-Carol Lindbloom, Debby Emerson and Regan Brumagen helped develop conference topics and solicit speakers and donors.
ASLS will be seeking nominations for the Excellence in Library Innovation Award, ASLS/New York State 3Rs Special Project Grant, and the Dewey Fellowship Award in next few weeks. Please visit the ASLS Awards page on the NYLA website for details.
