RASS Outstanding Public Service Award

This award is sponsored by the Reference and Adult Services Section (RASS) of the New York Library Association (NYLA). The recipient receives full NYLA Conference registration plus $200 toward expenses for attendance at the Annual Conference. The award honors a librarian or library support staff member who is a NYLA/RASS member and has made a significant contribution to Reference and/or Adult Services in New York State.

Award Criteria

  • Nominee must be a NYLA/RASS member
  • Nominee may be a librarian or library support staff
  • Nominee must work in New York State
  • Nominee may work in an academic, public, K-12, hospital, correctional, corporate or other special library or information center setting
  • Nominees must be working in a position that provides direct public services (i.e. not solely administrative)
  • Members may only receive the award once
  • Award covers annual NYLA conference registration and $200 toward conference expenses
  • Nominee must plan to attend the annual NYLA Conference
  • Current RASS Board members are not eligible

This award is presented to a library staff member who provides direct service to library users in the reference or adult services area. The award is given once a year and recognizes outstanding service to library users. The award recipient will be recognized at both the RASS Annual Membership Meeting and the NYLA Awards Banquet at the Annual Conference. The nomination form is available here.
