RASS Continuing Education Grants
NYLA/RASS is pleased to offer Continuing Education Grants to members attending workshops, courses, or continuing education programs. Grant amounts range from $50 to $250 and may be used to pay tuition, registration, travel, or other expenses. Grant recipients are selected by the RASS Executive Board upon the recommendation of the Continuing Education Grant Committee.
Eligibility requirements include:
Applicants must submit a written report within 30 days of the event, or within 30 days of receiving the award in the case of expenses already incurred.
The Grant is to be used for continuing education courses taken by professional library staff currently working in reference, and adult services, in a public, academic, hospital, corporate, or correctional facility library, or other special library or information center setting. Applicants in administrative positions who do not provide direct public services will receive consideration after other applicants. The Grant is considered for continuing education after the MLS degree. Courses reimbursed by employers or other sources are only eligible in the amount not covered. You may only receive one award in a three-year period and only two in your lifetime. Applications for grants are accepted continuously, with review and approval taking place at each RASS Board meeting. The schedule of deadlines for approval at quarterly Board meetings is:
May 1 (for consideration at May Board meeting), August 1 (for consideration at August Board meeting), and October 1 (for consideration at October Board meeting).
