How did you first get involved with NYLA?
I first got involved with NYLA by becoming the Legislative Representative for the Section of School LIbrarians on the Legislative Committee.

What do you wish people knew about NYLA?
I wish people realized that NYLA and SSL empowers you with support and knowledge and connections to do your job in a more informed way.

What is the best part of being on NYLA Council (or NYLA in general)?
I like the connections I make with all types of librarians in all of the sections which helps me to understand how libraries can connect with each other.

What do you do when you aren’t being a librarian?
I like to garden, visit historic sites, and read. I enjoy my family and being a grandmother!

What advice would you give to a librarian who is just starting out?
I would say that you should take advantage of all of the professional development opportunities that your local affiliate, School Library System, SSL and NYLA offer.

What is your favorite thing about your local library?
I love the connection with my local library as a school librarian and love going in as a guest storyhour reader!

Coffee or Tea? Why?
Coffee - it is the only thing to drink in the morning!

Cats or Dogs? Why?
Dogs definitely. I grew up with German Short Hair Pointers and love the companionship of a dog who is always happy to see me. We have a six pound morkipoo named Bailey who I call my retirement dog..

Cardigans - Yes or No? Why?
Cardigans - I am always cold!

eBook or Print? Why?
I like a combination of both . I like the convenience of an eBook when we go on vacation.

Dewey or LOC? Why?
Definitely Dewey - it is in my DNA and think of topics by their Dewey number!

And finally, the most important question....what is your favorite dessert?
I love cannoli and napoleons.
