Members on the Move

Sarah Clark was promoted from Creative Services Coordinator to Head of Branches for the Central Service Area (Washington Ave & Arbor Hill / West Hill Branches) at the Albany Public Library, Albany, NY.  She's been at APL for 12 years. Albany Public Library Executive Director, Scott Jarzombek, did a Q&A with Sarah in his latest Times Union blog.

Ellen Frank Bayer led a very successful cooking club at Flushing High School. Ellen introduced students to the wonders of healthy eating. They sampled ingredients from across the world. Students made sushi, Turkish kisir, no bake cheesecake deserts and other edible healthy foods, all without an oven. Ellen and the students are looking forward to a second season of exciting dishes and great cookbooks to review.

Kristen Falco, School Library Media Specialist at I.S. 259 William McKinley in Brooklyn, is one of two recipients of the Eva Efron Memorial Conference Grant to attend AASL this fall.  The scholarship is sponsored by SLSA and Rosen Publishing, and will cover $2,000 worth of expenses to attend the conference in Phoenix, Arizona in November.

Anne Mlod and Victoria Calarco recently attended the iEARN Global Education Conference in Morocco, Africa, thanks to grant funding from the Qatar Foundation.  This conference was attended by 220 teachers and 100 students representing 43 countries from around the world. Anne also received the ALA Roald Dahl Miss Honey Social Justice Award at the ALA Conference in Chicago, along with Cinda Gilmore. Anne is featured in the Capstone Power Librarians calendar that was released in June.

Christi Sommerfeldt started at the Northern New York Library Network in June of this year as Regional Services Library.

Angela Strong now serves as Assistant Library Director for Operations at the Schenectady County Public Library after nearly 5 years as Assistant Director - Technology at Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library.

Diana Wendell is the new School Library System (SLS) Director at Orange-Ulster BOCES located in Goshen, NY.  Previously Diana was the SLS Director at Madison-Oneida BOCES in Verona, NY; a position she held for 8 1/2 years.

Kelly L. Wilson is leaving her position as Director of the St. Lawrence-Lewis School Library System to become the Middle and High School Librarian at Gouverneur Central School District.
