Suffolk County Library Association (SCLA) Update

Election results are in, and the new board is waiting to take their seats in January!

The Computer and Technical Services Division (CATS) Technical Information Forum presented a program to teach librarians about podcasting.  CATS also had a “Minecraft Playdate” where librarians were taught to play the game on a Minecraft EDU server and learned to run their own programs.

The Reference and Adult Services Division (RASD) is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28 at the Babylon Carriage House. Frank M. Sorrentino, author of 6 books on American politics will speak on Presidential Power. The New Adult Committee held an informal roundtable discussion on finding local talent and partnering with new parents to provide services for new adults (aka millennials).

The Support Staff Division (SSD) continues its series of computer classes for library staff.  Upcoming classes are Intermediate and Advanced Excel.

Registration is open for the Annual PLDA/SCLA Golf and Wine Outing to be held on September 22.
