Summer Book Discussion: Harper Lee’s Go Set a Watchman
August 6, 2015
For decades, many readers yearned for more writing from Harper Lee, and now the 55-year wait is almost over. In July, Lee’s novel, Go Set a Watchman, is set for release. ENYSLMA will mark the event with a book discussion at the Amsterdam Free Library on August 6.
Harper Lee wrote Go Set a Watchman before the classic To Kill a Mockingbird. However, it is set 20 years later, with the spotlight still set on the famous Finch family, friends and neighbors. An adult Scout returns home from working in New York City and faces personal as well as political and social issues of the 1950s.
Is Go Set a Watchman a companion novel? A sequel? Join us and discuss it.
The event is free and open to ENYSLMA members and their guests. Please contact Jeff Selby to register and indicate if you are attending only the discussion or the discussion and dinner.
