Section on the Management of Resources and Technology (SMART) Update

Submitted by Nancy Howe, SMART President

A few months ago, SMART President Ben Lainhart left his position at Wood Library in Canandaigua, New York. Because his new endeavors will be taking him out west (Colorado and California), Vice President/Conference Programmer Nancy Howe (Baldwinsville Public Library) will be assuming the duties of President for the remainder of the current year.

SMART has 6 scheduled sessions and a half day continuing education workshop at this year’s conference in Saratoga Springs.

SMART is currently seeking nominations for three awards to be given out at conference:

  1. The Ellen C. Rappaport Professional Achievement Award
  2. The Teresa Strozik Award for Innovation in Library Technology
  3. SMART Fellowship Award

Please contact Nancy Howe for more information.

The Board of Directors has not met since Ben’s departure but will be meeting in early June. Because of this unexpected turn of events, the spring workshop that SMART had been hoping to schedule will be canceled for this year.
