Mary Carrier, Digital Services Trainer, Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, and Angela Strong, Assistant Director – Technology, Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library presented their program “Kid-sized Software Development Teams” at the Computers in Libraries Conference in Washington, D.C.
For examples of these "Code Crew" products click here. Mary and Angela will present an expanded version of this program at the Fall 2016 NYLA Annual Conference.

Mary Charters, Cutchogue East Elementary School Librarian, received the 2016 Outstanding Contribution to the School Library Profession Award from the Suffolk School Library Media Association.

Sue Considine, Executive Director  of the Fayetteville Free Library, was awarded the prestigious American Library Association (ALA), Public Library Association (PLA) Charlie Robinson Award. 

Elly Dawson, Director of the Victor Farmington Library, was nominated for the Woman of Excellence 2016 Award given by the Victor Chamber of Commerce.

Muriel Feldshuh, retired NYLA member, is exhibiting her POETRY BANNERS at The Sheepshead Bay Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.

Erin Marone, Dayton Avenue Elementary School Librarian, received the 2016 Librarian of the Year Award from the Suffolk School Library Media Association.

Lonna Pierce, school librarian with the Binghamton City School District, has been named an American Graduate Champion.

 Jody Shlomo, a Guilderland Public Library clerk, was recently awarded a NYLA-Dewey Scholarship, sponsored by the Lake Placid Education Foundation and the New York Library Association.  Ms. Shlomo is currently studying for her Masters in Library Science at the University at Albany. The NYLA-Dewey Scholarship provides financial assistance to enable an interested and deserving student to pursue an MLS degree at an ALA-accredited library school in New York State.

Kristine Tanzi has been promoted to Coordinator of Teen Services at the Middle Country Public Library.

Mary Linda Todd, Library Development Specialist, retired in early April 2016 after more than 15 years of service at the New York State Library.

Ashleigh Whitfield, formerly a Guilderland Public Library Young Adult Librarian, has joined the staff of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library as a full-time Young Adult and Youth Services Librarian. Ashleigh will be focusing primarily on supporting teen programs, collections and interests and will also take on responsibilities in programming for younger children.
