Jennifer Bollerman is now Head of Central Reference and Adult Services at the Patchogue-Medford Library.

Andrew Farber, formerly of the Greenburgh Public Library, has been appointed the Director of the Somers Library.

Kathy Giotsas, former Executive Director of the West Haven Public Library in West Haven, Connecticut, is the new Director of the Great Neck Library.

A 2015 IMLS grant was awarded to Syracuse University's School of Information Studies (iSchool) in partnership with Coulter Library at Onondaga Community College and the Fayetteville Free Library to design a Community Profile System to include human expertise, particularly in the STEM fields. The system will enable librarians to collect communities' learning needs, identify relevant community experts, and link the resources to serve the learning needs in a cost-efficient manner.

Caitlin Johnson is the new Director of the Schuylerville Public Library.

Corrine Leone, Senior Librarian for the NYS Department of Correctional and Community Services received a Public Librarian Certification from Long Island University on September 15th.

Manlius Library is celebrating a century of service and community support with an all-day event on Saturday, October 17. Between 10 am and 5 pm, the public is invited to come enjoy the festivities. The library’s new teen room will be officially unveiled, as well as a new gallery of beautiful Audubon prints, donated by Manlius residents Harold and Barbara Jones.

The Red Hook Public Library is one of 23 library systems chosen for a pilot initiative launched by the Aspen Institute with the goal of helping public libraries engage more deeply with their communities and inspire action to re-envision the libraries as key partners in all aspects of community life in the digital age.

Laura Stein, former Director of Grinnell Public Library District, will be the new Adult Services Librarian at the New York Public Library's Grand Central Branch.

Sharon B. Phillips and Mary Anne Waltz joined the staff of the New York State Library’s Division of Library Development as Library Development Specialists on September 24, 2015.  Ms. Phillips will be a member of Library Development’s Outreach, Networking, and Regional Advisory Services Team, while Ms. Waltz will be a member of Library Development’s Technology and Federal Aid Team and also the Outreach, Networking and Regional Advisory Services Team.

In Memoriam

Catherine D. Lawrence, long time member of the Friends of Clifton Park/Halfmoon Library, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015. She was the proud recipient of the Bunny Burnes volunteer of the Year Award in 1999 and served as a reader for the Dan Casey Award for this year and several years previously.
