SMART Update

Nominations Call

Get involved- run for a SMART position!  Joining the SMART Board is an excellent opportunity to get started with your professional participation in NYLA. Time commitments are reasonable—four Board meetings a year (one at conference) and the opportunity to connect remotely if you cannot get away for the day for a meeting.

There are 3 positions up for election this year:
Vice President/President-Elect, Secretary, and Director at Large

The Vice President/President-Elect position is a three-year time commitment.  The first year is spent as Vice President and Conference Programmer for SMART for the Annual NYLA Conference, the second year is spent leading SMART as President and serving as a member of the NYLA Council and in the third year as Past-President coordinating nominations for SMART elections.

The Secretary position is a two-year term.  The person elected to this position is responsible for recording and distributing the minutes from the Board meetings and the SMART Annual Membership Meeting held at NYLA Annual Conference.

The Director-at-Large position offers a good opportunity to get experience and learn how NYLA sections (SMART in particular) work.  This is a three year term running from 2015-2018.

Nominations are open now and the SMART election is held electronically during the month of June.  The NYLA Conference is when terms start, though new Board members may opt to attend a meeting before their official term starts.
