PLRT can help foster strong, supportive and professional relationships between all library workers, while supporting Paralibrarians' endeavors in multiple library settings, from academic to public, and from large metropolitan to small rural facilities. The PLRT was formed to learn and to benefit from working with all of those in the library community in order to provide the best libraries possible to all New Yorkers.

What is a Paralibrarian?

A Paralibrarian is someone who works in a library but does not have an Master’s of Library Science.  They are dedicated to the library and its patrons.  Paralibrarians have many names, some of which include: Staff, Library Assistant, Support Staff, Clerk and Paraprofessional.
