Candidate for Councilor-at-Large (Representing an Academic/Special Library) (2021-24)
Executive Director, Rochester Regional Library Council
15+ years after graduating from library school, I still learn something new every day, and pretty much all of it comes from my colleagues and friends who work in libraries, museums, and cultural organizations across the state. This is what I value most in my professional life – the network of wildly talented people that I have had the privilege to work with throughout my career, a network that I started to grow when I joined NYLA as a new librarian.
As the Executive Director of the Rochester Regional Library Council, I represent and serve the interests of all libraries. That’s why being a part of NYLA is important to me - we have the same mission - to lead, educate, and advocate for the advancement of the library community.
I have been active in NYLA in a variety of ways over the last 13 (or more?!) years. I presented at NYLA Conference. I served on the board for both the SMART and ASLS sections. I served on NYLA Council during my term as SMART president. I served the Legislative Committee as a representative for the Empire State Library Network.
I am excited for the opportunity to serve on NYLA Council representing the Empire State Library Network. ESLN has, at its core, a fundamental commitment to innovation in library service and to collaboration across library types. I look forward to working with you all!
