"It’s the most wonderful time of the year….NYLA Annual Conference time! We’re so excited to announce that the registration for NYLA Conference 2023 has officially launched, and we want to encourage you to register ASAP so you don’t miss those wonderful Early Bird prices, which run through September 1. Our gathering this year is all about self-care, and our amazing President Arlene Laverde helped us create the theme: Revive, Refresh, Rekindle. We all know far too well that it’s a tough time to be a librarian, and NYLA is here to offer a few fun days of education, entertainment, and joie de vivre!"

Keepin' Up At The Capitol

"As we enter August and enjoy the late summer weather that it brings, the 2023 legislative session is now nearly two months behind us. The bills passed during session are now trickling up to the desk of Governor Kathy Hochul for her review, and NYLA continues to advocate for their ultimate approval.  At this time, four library-related bills, each granting individual libraries DASNY eligibility, have already been signed and chaptered! Other NYLA priorities, including Chapter 414 petition reform (S3594/A5266), still await delivery to the Governor from the Legislature, though the Executive Chamber has already requested, and NYLA has provided, official comment in anticipation of their receipt."
