The Annual Conference and Trade Show held in October/November is the largest state library association conference on the East Coast. Featuring a wide variety of programs, special events, networking opportunities, and vendor displays, the Annual Conference and Trade Show offers educational opportunities for all segments of the library community.

Developing Leaders Program
NYLA is pleased to announce the Developing Leaders Program (DLP). This nine-month program (August - April), totaling 37.5 contact hours, will help participants explore and strengthen their leadership skills.
The program will be delivered via both in person and online courses. Participants will divided into groups to complete a team-based project.
YSS Empowerment, Advocacy and Leadership Academy (EALA)
This program ran in 2018 and again in 2019. Following the pilot years, the program was merged with the Developing Leaders Program.
The YSS Empowerment, Advocacy and Leadership Academy is a 7 month program is specifically designed for YS Providers who are interested in developing their leadership skills for personal and professional advancement.
VIRTUAL Library Skills Academy
New for 2021, the Library Skills Academy has been reworked into an online format. The program now consists of six 90 minute live webinars taking place over the course fo six consecutive weeks.
The program remains open to individuals already working in libraries, or people interested in working in libraries. To receive a certificate of completion, the participant must complete the entire nine hour program.
Library Skills Academy
This certificate, non-credit Library Skills Academy is offered on the same day over the course of three weeks (e.g. three consecutive Tuesdays), each class is six hours long (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM), and is offered in conjunction with Public Library Systems. It is open to individuals already working or newly hired in libraries, or people interested in working in libraries. To receive a certificate of completion, the individual must complete the entire 18 hour program.
NYLA Regional Institutes, both full- and half-day workshops, are offered across the state and focus on current hot topics and bring the most popular Conference workshops to your region. The Institutes can also be custom designed for the needs of particular library systems or libraries.
Continuing Teacher & Leader Education (CTLE) Credit
Have you recently attended a SSL program that qualifies for CTLE credit? Please fill out a transcript request and scan and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org to ensure you receive CTLE credit. If the NYLA office does not receive your transcrit request you will not receive CTLE credit for the workshops you have attended.
Submitting Proposals to Conduct Professional Development Workshops
NYLA accepts proposals from subject-area experts who wish to conduct workshops at our Annual Conference or our Regional Institutes. More information is available on our workshop proposal page.

Attendance at NYLA’s Annual Conference and other professional development opportunities help meet these requirements, plus we keep track of all your NYLA CE hours and can provide you with the documentation you need to keep your certification.
NYLA CE Calendar
Thanks to the efforts of the 2015-2016 NYLA Continuing Education Committee (CEC), an online calendar has been established to serve as a listing for all library-related professional development opportunities.
This calendar is designed to distribute and promote programming, as well as to serve as a planning tool to avoid duplication of effort, and conflicts in scheduling.
In order for this tool to function, it is reliant upon content submissions.
NYLA is asking that all those who are responsible for organizing professional development activities to add submitting the details to this calendar to their production process.

One point of clarification – the calendar is intended to catalog professional development for those working in the library community – it is not intended for patron programs, or events targeted at the general public.
