NYLA-Dewey Fellowship Award

The NYLA-Dewey Fellowship is sponsored by the Lake Placid Education Foundation and the New York Library Association

Dewey Fellowships are awarded to four NYLA members, selected by designated Section*, to attend the NYLA Annual Conference. Dewey Fellows are chosen on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. five or more years of experience as a librarian,**
  2. record of accomplishment in the library profession, and
  3. involvement in activities to advance the library community.

*Note: Eligible Sections rotate on an annual basis.

**MLS not required

The Dewey Fellowship pays for up to $1000 of the cost of attendance of the NYLA Annual Conference. Additionally, each Dewey Fellow will be acknowledged on NYLA's website, at the Annual Conference and in the NYLA Bulletin.

Eligible Sections

Even Years (2022, 2024) - FLS, LAMS, PLS, RASS

Odd Years (2021 , 2023) - ASLS, SMART, SSL, YSS

Beginning in 2016 the establishment of the Friends of Libraries Sections resulted in a four section per year alternating schedule.

Candidates must be nominated by eligible section leadership. Nominations are due in the NYLA office by September 1st of each year.
