ESRT: About
Since 1982, Ethnic Services Round Table (ESRT) has provided a forum for libraries and library staff to share information on ethnic services through a cooperative network, develop and promote multicultural and multilingual collections, design services for ethnic groups in our communities and provide funding information in support of ethnic programs.
Facts About ESRT
- ESRT has presented over 60 programs on issues of cultural diversity at NYLA annual conferences since 1982.
- ESRT has published over 50 bibliographies offering selections of books, films and websites in languages other than English, bilingual books, and multiethnic literature.
- ESRT has established the annual Brian G. Martin Professional Development Award, to help defray conference expenses for an ESRT member.
- ESRT has published a collection of essays on multicultural services, Connecting Cultures: Ethnic Services in the Libraries of New York State in 2013, as a companion volume to its earlier publication Bridging Cultures: Ethnic Services in the Libraries of New York State (2001).
