Candidate for Treasurer-Elect (2019-21) / Treasurer (2021-23)
Director, Utica Public Library
“I don’t do math, I’m a librarian” used to be my humorous response to questions about money. After almost 20 years of progressively responsible experience – especially as a library director who does more work with figures than ever – I now appreciate the irony.
I am confident that I can fulfill the duties of NYLA Treasurer-Elect/Treasurer, but what has me most excited about the challenge of capably serving New York’s library community in this role is the opportunity to collaborate with others and lead our professional organization. Becoming more active in NYLA has shown me how much value a flexible, diverse and robust professional association is in furthering the mission of our libraries and actively working to develop the potential of those who work in them. Our institutions do their best work when our members are part of pointing the way forward, and with experience in school, academic, special and public libraries, I have found that listening to others and sharing their stories is the best way to build consensus and turn knowledge into action.
I look forward to helping point the way forward in the years to come and appreciate your support.
