Prior to joining the team in Greece, she was Executive Director of the Pioneer Library System (Canandaigua) and Community Relations Librarian at the White Plains Public Library. Everything You Wanted to Know about NYS Library Construction Grants

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM (1.5 CE Contact Hour)

Does your library need to upgrade its broadband service? Add programming space? Expand its teen room? Improve ADA access? Each year New York State makes millions of dollars in construction aid available to public libraries and library systems. This workshop will walk you through the application process. Learn what constitutes an eligible project and what documents are necessary to include with your application. Avoid pitfalls that can disqualify or delay an application. Life happens; learn how to amend a project once it has begun.

Speaker:
Mary Anne Waltz is the Program Manager for State Aid for Library Construction at the State Library, Division of Library Development. In the three years since assuming the position, she has reviewed over 600 applications and overseen the progress and successful closing of hundreds more. Before coming to the State Library, she was the program coordinator and trainer for the Digital Literacy project at NYLA. In her past life as an academic librarian, she was involved in major renovation/construction projects at Syracuse University, the University at Albany, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
