Mary Lindner
Curriculum Library Cataloger / Reference Librarian
The College of Saint Rose

I am cataloger and reference librarian at The College of Saint Rose, where I have worked since graduating from The University at Albany with my M.L.S. in 2003.  Last year I received tenure and promotion to Associate Professor.  I have been an active member of NYLA for several years, first as the New Members Roundtable Awards Chair, then as NMRT Conference Programmer and President.  I was also on the board of the SMART section for 4 years.  After taking some time off, I would enjoy returning to the SMART board and serving as the section’s treasurer.

As Librarian at Oswego Public Library I handle all of our technology developments, digitization projects, web site, adult programs, genealogy, local history, and reference.  I am the main person for collection development and oversee cataloging, processing, and the children's room as well.  I am interested in the future of public libraries and how they fit in an increasingly distributed and mobile information accessing public.  Libraries have a mission to serve these people who need never step inside a library to use our many services as well as those who need to use our facility and equipment to access the many government services and applications which are only online now.

I have served the Public Library Association on their Electronic Communications Advisory Committee redesigning their website ten years ago and was an ALA and PLA member for a dozen years.  I presented at ALA in Anaheim and at PLA in Philadelphia.  I look forward to becoming involved with NYLA and SMART and possibly presenting at a future NYLA conference or SMART workshop.  My current areas of interest are LibraryBox, thin clients, and pushing library information and online documents to our users based on their interests.
