Joining the New York Library Association is easy!
Please download a membership form, or contact the NYLA office to have one sent to you. Personal Membership is for individuals while Business / Organizational Membership is for Friends Groups, Library Schools, Not-for-Profit Organizations, Public Institutions and For-Profit Institutions. Library Support Staff are eligible for a special joint membership in NYLA and the American Library Association. Students also receive a special rate when they join both NYLA and the American Library Association at the same time.
NYLA dues and gift contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law; $6.00 of dues applied to NYLA Bulletin subscriptions is NOT deductible.

Renewing/Lapsed Member: Dues are dependent on annual income:
- Up to $19,999 = $35
- $20,000-$29,000= $60
- $30,000-$39,000 = $80
- $40,000-$49,000 = $100
- $50,000 and over = $125
Membership in one section is included in your basic NYLA membership. Additional sections are $7 and roundtables are $5 each.

Queens Librarian Membership Offer

Through a special, program between the New York Library Association and its affiliate, the American Library Association, library support staff may take advantage of membership in both organizations at a special reduced price of $61. (Save $30)
NYLA and ALA work for our members, advocating for issues that cocern you, like library funding, salaries, freedom of access to infomration, and the status of library workers. We offer continuing education opportunities and ongoing training to help you improve the skills you use everyday.
Membership connects you with the larger library community and opens doors for personal and professional enrichment. Library Assistants and other Support Staff have access to the best network of others from around the state and across the country who do similar work and have similar interests.
You are invited to take part, to connect, and to grow in a rewarding, encouraging environment with thousands of other library workers who are members of your professional associations.
Student Membership - Special Joint NYLA/ALA Offer!

Through a special, program between the New York Library Association and its affiliate, the American Library Association, students may take advantage of membership in both organizations at a special reduced price of $35.
Student memberships give students a broader understanding of professional issues, networking opportunities, a chance to learn about librarianship and information management in a "real world" context, access to mentors and exposure to a variety of libraries and library issues.
In addition, ALA and NYLA gain, through student members, increased member diversity, a broader pool of volunteers, members with an early commitment to the profession and a willingness to serve in leadership positions, and more advocates at local, state and national levels.
Your completed membership application (available as PDF above) will be submitted directly to ALA. A report of new student members is sent to NYLA on a monthly basis. Please allow six to eight weeks for your NYLA membership to become effictive.
