Ethnic newspapers today are at risk of becoming extinct due to a combination of the rise of the Internet and even more importantly, the severe economic recession. There are about 200 magazines and newspapers published in 36 languages in New York State. There are seven New York daily newspapers in Chinese. Readers come from more than 50 nations or ethnic groups. There is also a number of newspapers which serve African-Americans. There are two issues to discuss: how do they help immigrants to "adapt" to a new culture and what is their future?
